Ok, so there must be about a million (ok, slight exaggeration!) blog posts on kale chips! They have become so popular, for so many reasons.
1 Kale is very good for you and a superfood
2 Great snack alternative to chips
3 So yum and crunchy
4 You can make just about any flavour you want
Grab your bunch of Kale and cut out the middle stems, then cut/tear them into bite size pieces.
Next, wash then spin them in a salad spinner to get all the excess water out. If you don’t have one, just pat them dry with a paper towel.
Now, lay them on a lined baking sheet with foil or baking paper. Drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper. In the past, I have experimented with a few other spices also. Here are some of my faves! (include olive oil in all these varieties)
Soy sauce
Chilli flakes/powder and sea salt
Moroccan spice
Garlic flakes, salt and pepper
Once you’ve chosen your desired flavour, bake them in the oven at 160c for 10-15 mins. The first 5 mins you will be thinking ‘what the hell have I made, it looks like soggy salad!’ Trust me, I had these thoughts, but rest assured they crunch up in the next 5 mins! You also want to keep an eye on them so they don’t over bake.
Done! They are so yummy and crunchy, I just love them. Hope you enjoy making eating them as much as I do! Enjoy tsj xx
