South Korea is an emerging up and coming tourist favourite and after this trip, I can see why. It really exceeded our expectations of being ‘just another unique country to visit’ to ‘wow – I loved everything about it and can’t wait to go back!’ We visited Gyeongju, Busan and Seoul with Busan and Seoul being the favourites.
We were so impressed at how lovely everyone was and how clean the cities were! The food here is incredible, I could honestly eat Korean BBQ and Kimchi all day. I’m a huge lover of anything matcha flavoured and they had some of the best matcha frappes I’ve ever had! Oh, we had a face latte- ‘what the hell’ you ask? Well it’s basically a latte made with exactly that! Your. Face. Printed. On. It! Ha ha. There is a snippet of it on my video and more about it on the TSJ Facebook page. We really enjoyed trying all the interesting food and the unique cultural differences.
Due to time restrictions we did tours everyday and some favourite things were: Jagalchi Fish Market in Busan, which is the largest fish Market in Korea, the Korean War Memorial Museum in Busan and the Demilitarized Military Zone near Seoul, which is a must do! We really enjoyed the markets, exploring all the different streets at night and people watching (without sounding creepy lol). Specifically, we loved Itaewon and Insadong Streets, Namdaemun Market and the Myeongdong shopping precinct.
I really must mention the HUGE obsession in South Korea with skin care. Oh my! Everything you heard is true, it’s amazing! There are so many stores and the prices are so reasonable. You can find anything from the weird and wonderfull there. I’m talking masks with snail, horse fat, caviar, bird nest extract (yes you read right!) and so much more! Make sure you go to Tony Moly, Skin Food, Innisfree and The Face Shop. All skincare in South Korea is amazing, but these were my favourites. Poor Matt was dragged into beauty stores every five minutes. #mostpatienthusbandever 🙂
For our traditional travel video, I wanted to choose a fun song we could dance to (albeit badly lol). We had so much fun making this and our tour guides were so helpful in filming and participating! It’s my tradition to make these music clip type videos, set to a song for our travels to give our videos a point of difference and memories to cherish forever. Be sure to check out the others. tsj xx

To end on a fun/weird note… I gave birth to Matt in Seoul. LOL (This is at the trick eye museum)
