Wow Dubai and Abu Dhabi! You were magical and amazed me beyond my expectations. I kept saying I felt like I was in my favourite Disney movie Aladdin. It was so amazing and I loved the contrast of old traditional buildings with the new futuristic modern architecture.
Our first stop was Abu Dhabi (it’s only 1 hour by car from Dubai and definitely worth the visit!) We probably saw one of the most beautiful places (big call!!) I’ve ever seen: The Sheikh Zayed Mosque. Absolutely breathtaking! It reminded us of the Taj Mahal but bigger. If you have a few days extra, make sure you do go to Abu Dhabi and see this, it’s worth going even for one night just to see the Mosque.
In Dubai, we went on a desert safari which included sand dune bashing. This was so much fun yet scary at the same time and there were mixed emotions along with screaming and laughing from everyone in the car! As fun as it is, there is a sense of relief when it’s done and your standing on solid ground still alive! haha! Another highlight in Dubai was the Burj Khalifa views from the top floor and going to the Bastakiya quarter in old Dubai.
Everyone tells you how great the shopping is in Dubai, but I was wowed beyond belief. My gosh there is shopping, then there is Dubai! I have never seen malls this massive and opulent. Do yourself a favour and allow a few days for some retail therapy alone. 🙂 Make sure you go visit the old gold souks for the most gold shops in the one place you have ever seen!
We were told so many times that Dubai was ‘just a stop over place’ and I had seen other forums of people saying the same thing and not to bother going. Really? I mean, I guess each to their own, but we really loved it and could have easily spent a few more days there. I mentioned in my last travel post to experience different things and not to plan your travels solely on people’s opinions. This is a perfect example. I’m so glad we went with our gut and experienced this amazing trip. 🙂
This travel video was cool to make and I wanted to do it a bit differently. I love the words of this song and I related it to our feelings about travel. It’s my tradition to make these music clip type videos, set to a song for our travels to give our videos a point of difference. Be sure to check out the others.
Feel free to ask any questions if your planning to visit Dubai soon! Enjoy, tsj xx
